Commercial Process

Five steps from bill review to flipping the switch.

No black boxes. No vague timelines. Here's exactly what happens, what we deliver, and what we need from you at every step of a commercial solar project with SolarCCS.

Assessment & Proposal

1-2 weeks

Site Survey & Engineering

1-2 weeks

Permits & Installation

4-8 weeks

PTO & Commissioning

1-2 weeks

Total (typical)

8-14 weeks

Step by step

The full process, transparently

01

Site Profile & Bill Review

1-3 business days

We collect your 12-month utility bill history, roof layout (or ground area), and electrical panel info. If you lease, we confirm landlord consent path. If you own, we verify ownership for ITC registration.

What you get

  • 12-month energy profile (kWh, demand, TOU breakdown)
  • Roof structural assessment (or ground survey)
  • Electrical panel and service capacity check
  • Ownership/lease verification for incentive path

What we need from you

Provide 12 months of utility bills (or we can request them from SCE on your behalf). Grant access to roof/electrical room. 30-60 minutes of your time.

02

Artemis Proposal & Modeling

3-5 business days

We build a detailed proposal in Artemis Solar — our proposal platform. This includes system sizing, equipment selection, production estimate, incentive stack (Section 48E, MACRS, SGIP, NEM 3.0), financing options, and 25-year cash flow.

What you get

  • Artemis proposal with line-item equipment and pricing
  • Section 48E incentive stack modeled (base + domestic content + energy community)
  • MACRS depreciation schedule
  • SGIP rebate estimate (if storage included)
  • 25-year cash flow projection with payback analysis
  • Financing options: cash, commercial loan, PPA, lease, C-PACE

What we need from you

Review the proposal. Ask questions. We revise. No deposit required at this stage.

03

Site Survey & Engineering

1-2 weeks

Once you approve the proposal (verbally or with a deposit), we dispatch our engineering team for a detailed site survey. We confirm roof structural capacity, electrical interconnection requirements, shading analysis, and any AHJ-specific (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements.

What you get

  • Structural engineering letter (roof load certification)
  • Shading analysis (with drone survey if needed)
  • Electrical single-line diagram
  • String layout and module placement plan
  • Battery placement and fire-setback compliance
  • AHJ pre-application meeting (if required)

What we need from you

Grant site access for survey (2-4 hours). Review and sign the EPC contract. Pay mobilization deposit (typically 10%).

04

Permits, Install & Interconnection

4-8 weeks (varies by AHJ and system size)

We pull all permits (building, electrical, structural), order equipment, and install with our own crews. Specialized subcontractors (roofing, crane ops) are supervised under our GC license when the job requires it. We coordinate the utility interconnection application (Rule 21 for SCE) and schedule inspections.

What you get

  • All permits pulled and posted (building, electrical, structural)
  • Equipment delivery and staging
  • Racking and panel installation (our crews)
  • Inverter and battery installation
  • Electrical interconnection and switchgear
  • Utility interconnection approval (SCE Rule 21 or equivalent)
  • City/county inspections passed

What we need from you

Minimal involvement. We coordinate access. You may need to be on-site for electrical shutdown (typically 2-4 hours) and final inspection walkthrough.

05

PTO, Monitoring & Handoff

1-2 weeks after inspection

Once inspections pass, we submit for Permission to Operate (PTO) from the utility. After PTO is granted, we commission the system, set up monitoring, and walk you through operation. We register your Section 48E tax credit filing and provide all documentation for your CPA.

What you get

  • Utility PTO letter
  • System commissioning and performance verification
  • Monitoring portal setup (desktop + mobile app)
  • Operations & maintenance plan
  • Section 48E registration confirmation
  • Tax credit documentation package for your CPA
  • Equipment warranties registered
  • Final walkthrough and training

What we need from you

Join the commissioning walkthrough (1 hour). Download the monitoring app. Forward the tax documentation to your CPA. Start saving.

Proposal technology

Artemis Solar — not a back-of-napkin estimate

We use Artemis Solar proposal software to generate line-item proposals with real equipment pricing, production modeling, and incentive calculations. Not a vague $/W range — a real document you can take to your CFO.

Line-item pricing

Every panel, inverter, battery, BOS component, and labor line priced individually. You see exactly what you're paying for.

Incentive stack modeled

Section 48E base + domestic content + energy community adders. MACRS depreciation. SGIP storage rebates. All calculated, not estimated.

25-year cash flow

Year-by-year cash flow including incentive payouts, financing payments, utility savings, and O&M. Payback period clearly marked.

The contractor difference

We build it. We don't broker it.

Most "solar companies" are sales organizations that subcontract everything — design, permitting, installation, even the electrical. They mark up each layer and you're stuck coordinating between vendors when something goes wrong.

Pacific Canyon Group has been a licensed general contractor since 1993. Our crews pour the concrete, mount the racking, wire the inverters, and commission the system. One team, one phone number, one accountability chain.

In-house crews
30+ years

What this means for your timeline

  • GC-managed scheduling — no broker delays
  • Direct communication with the crew chief
  • Quality control at every step — not after the fact
  • We can hit the 2027 Section 48E deadline
  • One warranty — not three layers of finger-pointing
